Hatrobot (Chris Bodily), the artist, creates a lot of quirky and unique pieces based on pop culture and his personal struggle with mental illness. When creating pop culture illustrations, you are connecting with the audience by showing that you understand them and their fandom. Creating something with a reference or witty perspective excites the viewer and engages them in a conversation with your work. Chris is a local artist in Ogden, Utah and works from his home. He begins his illustration with pen and ink and then scans and paints digitally. I chose to feature Chris' illustration because I am friends with him and I have always been impressed by the craft and creativity that is featured in his work. His illustrations bring a lot of joy, excitement and intrigue to many people and that is a quality that I desire for my work.
